Settings
The Settings section allows you to configure various aspects of AD Permissions Reporter to suit your preferences and requirements. This page explains all available settings and how to configure them.
Accessing Settings
To access the settings:
- Click the "SETTINGS" button in the sidebar navigation
- The Settings screen will display with multiple tabs for different setting categories

General Settings
The General tab contains basic application settings:
Custom Settings
- Auto save reports in report history database - When enabled, all generated reports are automatically saved in the history database for future reference
Software Updates
- Check for updates every time you start the program - When enabled, the application will automatically check for new versions upon startup
- Check for updates - Click this button to manually check for updates at any time
Security
- Store credentials in database - Controls how profile credentials are stored:
- When enabled, credentials are securely stored in the application database (suitable for team sharing)
- When disabled, credentials are stored in Windows Credential Manager (more secure but tied to the local machine)
- Migrate Existing Credentials - Click to migrate all credentials between storage methods after changing the above setting
Debug Settings
The Debug tab provides options for troubleshooting:
Debugging
- Enable debugging - When enabled, the application will generate detailed log files
- Log file folder - Specifies where log files are stored
- Browse - Click to select a different folder for log files
Debug logs are helpful when troubleshooting issues with the application or when working with technical support.
License Settings
The License tab displays information about your current license and provides license management options:
License Information
- License Type - Your current license level (Free, Trial, Pro)
- License Name - The name associated with the license
- Email - The email address associated with the license
- Company - The company name registered with the license
- Order Number - Your purchase order number (Pro licenses only)
Support & Updates Status
- Status - Current status of your support and updates subscription (Active, Expiring Soon, Recently Expired, Expired)
- Expiration Date - When your support and updates subscription expires or expired
- Days Remaining/Ago - Time until expiration or time since expiration
Renewal Options
Depending on your license status, various renewal options may appear:
- Renew With 50% Discount - Available before expiration
- Renew With 30% Discount - Available within 45 days after expiration
- Renew License - Available after 45 days post-expiration
License Management
- Register New License - Click to enter a new license key (Pro, Trial, or renewal)
About Information
The About tab provides general information about the application:
- Application Name - Full product name
- Version - Current software version
- Company - Developer information
- Attribution - Credits for third-party components
Applying Settings
Most settings take effect immediately when you change them. Some specific notes:
- Debug settings - Changes to debug settings apply the next time logging activity occurs
- Credential storage - Changing the credential storage method requires migration for existing credentials
Settings Storage
Application settings are stored in:
- The application database for most settings
- Windows Credential Manager for secure credentials (when that option is selected)
- A local configuration file for certain startup and path settings
Multi-User Settings
If multiple users share the application:
- Most settings are stored per-installation and shared among all users
- License information is shared among all users of the same installation
- When using Windows Credential Manager, credentials are stored per Windows user account
- When using database credential storage, credentials are available to all users with access to the database
