AD Group Manager - Online manual

How to set up a group manager

This is just one of the possible ways to set up a group manager. In this example, we are using Active Directory Administrative Center. Find a group to which you want to assign a group manager and open its properties. In the ‘Managed By’ field, specify the group manager - this can be a specific user or a group.

Active Directory Administrative Center (ADAC) managed by

AD Group Manager uses managedBy and msExchCoManagedByLink attributes to find managed groups.
It will find all the groups using three methods:

  1. UserA is set up as a direct group manager of GroupA.
  2. UserA is a member of GroupB that is set up as the group manager of GroupA.
  3. UserA is a member of GroupC which is a member of GroupB (group manager).
