AD FastReporter - Online Manual

Introduction to AD FastReporter

AD FastReporter is a Windows desktop application for generating, customizing, and automating Active Directory reports. It reads AD data using LDAP and presents it in a readable format with filtering, export, scheduling, and email delivery capabilities.

AD FastReporter runs on any domain-joined Windows workstation — no server installation, no agents, no cloud dependencies. It connects to your Active Directory using standard LDAP queries and can report across multiple domains and forests.

What You Can Report On

AD FastReporter organizes reports into eight categories, each covering a different type of Active Directory object:

Category What it reports on
Users User accounts — names, status, logon history, passwords, memberships, organization, contact info
Computers Computer accounts — names, OS details, logon status, IP addresses
Groups Security and distribution groups — members, membership counts, scope, type
Exchange Exchange-enabled users, contacts, and groups — mailbox settings, protocols, policies
Contacts AD contact objects — names, email addresses, organization details
Printers Published printers — names, locations, server details
Group Policy Objects GPOs — names, links to OUs/sites/domains, status
Organizational Units OUs — names, child object counts (users, computers, groups)

Each category includes built-in report forms organized by subcategory. For example, User reports are grouped into Generic, Account Status, Logon Status, Password Status, and System subcategories. In total, the application includes over 250 built-in report forms.

Key Capabilities

Report Generation — Select a built-in report or create a custom one, choose which AD fields to display, apply filters, and generate. Results appear in a data grid that you can sort, search, and review before exporting.

Custom Report Forms — Create your own report forms by selecting from the available fields, or duplicate and modify a built-in form. You can also add custom LDAP fields for attributes not included by default.

Filtering — Build filter conditions with AND/OR logic, criteria grouping, and a range of operators (contains, equals, starts with, before/after dates, greater/less than, and more). Filters let you narrow results to exactly what you need — for example, “users whose password expires in the next 7 days and who haven’t logged on in 30 days.”

Export — Export reports in eight formats: Excel (XLSX), CSV, CSV (append), HTML, PDF, XML, ODS, and JSON.

Email Delivery — Send report results by email as plain text or with file attachments (CSV, XLSX, HTML). Configure SMTP settings once and send directly from the application or as part of a scheduled task.

Scheduled Tasks — Automate report generation on a daily schedule using Windows Task Scheduler integration. Each task defines which report to run, where to export the results, and whether to send them by email.

Report History — Generated reports are stored in a local SQLite database. You can revisit previous results without re-running the query against Active Directory.

Charts — Visualize report data as charts and export them as images.

NIS2 Compliance — A built-in compliance dashboard with predefined report forms for the EU NIS2 Directive, covering inactive accounts, password policy, privileged groups, service accounts, and more.
