Viewing Group Members

Member types

Groups can contain different types of AD objects. Each type is visually distinguished in the grid:

  • Users — the most common member type (person accounts)
  • Groups — nested groups (groups that are members of this group)
  • Computers — computer accounts
  • Contacts — contact objects (external email addresses)

Searching and sorting

  • Search — use the search box to filter members by any visible column.
  • Sort — click any column header to sort by that column.
  • Column visibility — right-click on a column header to show or hide columns.

Your column preferences are saved between sessions.

Viewing nested group members

If a group contains other groups as members, you can click on a nested group’s name to view its members. This lets you drill down into the full membership hierarchy.

Group owners

If the ShowAllGroupOwners setting is enabled (the default), the members view displays all group owners — both the primary managedBy value and any co-managers from msExchCoManagedByLink.
